Our Team

Hope Housing of Marin was founded by a group of young adults (African American) that are native to Marin City community. The passion for affordable housing grew as young adults came face to face with the reality that affordable housing is difficult to obtain in the community that they lived in all their lives. They realized that it's nearly impossible for them to rent, buy or raised their children in a place that they called home. After attending some community meetings to discuss affordable housing an team was formed. In December of 2020 the team launch into action their goal was to address the issues of a lack of affordable housing and to get the word out about an community land trust. The team move forward on hosting an meeting between the community and the county of Marin. The meeting was successful, many county officials, people from the community and others had an informative conversations around affordable housing. The team quickly realized that the meeting was only the first step, creating affordable housing is an on going battle but they are determine to make changes in their community. The team educates individuals about the operation of a community land trust, they advocate for more affordable housing, empowering community members with financial literacy course, and they assist with bringing communities and county officials together.
